Temporary buffs[1] (or stat boosts during combat), not to be confused with Bonuses, refer to specific versions of stat increases that are only active during combat, and will not be visible in the menus displaying units in battle. Temporary buffs are also known as combat boosts, which come from multiple summoning focuses localized as "Heroes with Combat Boosts", featuring skills that grant temporary buffs. Typically the description of these skills will include the phrase "during combat".
The influence of temporary buffs can be observed during pre-combat confirmation, allowing the player to evaluate their options.
Temporary buffs are primarily given by A Type passives for the user, and C Type passives for allies, while weapon skills and Sacred Seals often provide temporary buffs for their users or their allies.
- Temporary buffs will stack with other temporary buffs, temporary debuffs, Bonuses, and Penalties, and non-combat boosts such as from skills like Attack +1 or Legendary/Mythic Effects. They will apply at the same time and will not cancel each other out.
- Temporary buffs are not affected by skills that target bonuses, such as Panic Ploy 3, Beorc's Blessing, Legion's Axe+, or Divine Naga.
- Temporary buffs are not affected by skills that target penalties, such as Harsh Command.
- Temporary buffs do not affect damage calculation before combat, such as from Area-of-effect Specials.
- Skills that "deal extra damage" consider all temporary buffs if the damage depends on the unit stats during combat.
- Skills that compare stats outside of combat such as Atk Ploy 3 will not consider temporary buffs.
