- "If unit initiates combat" means if the user starts combat during the player phase. The unit does not need to deal damage, nor be the first to attack.
- However, if the effect is applied after combat, the unit must also survive it to fulfill this condition.
- Spy's Shuriken's extra attack is not a follow-up attack nor a change in attack priority.
- Effects such as Foe Cannot Follow-Up and Hardy Bearing 3 do not affect the extra attack.
- If Spy's Shuriken's user can perform a standard follow-up attack, either by passing the Spd difference check or effects such as Guaranteed Follow-Ups or Quick Riposte 4, the user will be able to attack up to 4 times during combat.
- Spy's Shuriken's extra attack does not affect the additional follow-up granted by 【Potent Follow X%】 or 【Potent Follow 100%】.
- A foe with effects such as Phys. Null Follow or Null Follow-Up will neutralize any effect on Spy's Shuriken's user that guarantees follow-up attacks.
- The stat increase that can be applied by Spy's Shuriken is considered a temporary buff.
- Spy's Shuriken applies the Null Follow-Up status effect.
- Any 【Bonus】 on a unit lasts until the start of that unit's next phase. If Null Follow-Up is acquired during the enemy phase, it will disappear when the next player phase begins.
- Null Follow-Up will not neutralize the additional follow-up of 【Potent Follow X%】 or 【Potent Follow 100%】.
- Effects that are neutralized by Null Follow-Up:
- Effects that grant the foe a guaranteed follow-up such as Quick Riposte 4, Guaranteed Follow-Ups, or the Grand Conquests Cavalry area effect.
- Effects active on the unit that prevent their follow-up attacks, such as Windsweep 3, Watersweep 3, or Weaving Fighter.
- Effects active on the foe that prevent the unit's follow-up attacks such as Steady Impact, Vengeful Fighter 4, or Foe Cannot Follow-Up.
- Spy's Shuriken applies the Exposure status effect.
- The damage boosting effect is a flat +10 damage that ignores the foe's Def or Res when calculating the damage boost, and can be reduced by damage reduction effects such as Gust, Atk/Spd Excel, and Dodge.
- A foe equipped with Embla's Ward, Múspellflame, Niðavellir Axiom, File:Nine-Realm Pact.png Nine-Realm Pact, or Gold Perfection will neutralize all sources of damage during combat except the minimum 1 damage from Umbra Burst weapons.

- Cardinal directions refers to spaces directly north, south, east, or west of the user. Distance does not factor.
- "If unit initiates combat" means if the user starts combat during the player phase. The unit does not need to deal damage, nor be the first to attack.
- However, if the effect is applied after combat, the unit must also survive it to fulfill this condition.
- Both Spy's Shuriken and other effects that grant another action to the user can trigger on the same turn.[1]
- The unit's Special cooldown count is unaffected if Spy's Shuriken triggers.
- The priority of effects that grant another action to the user is as follows:
- Share Spoils
- Effects with priority such as Time Is Light
- Non-Special effects without priority such as Lone Wolf or Override
- Special effects without priority such as Galeforce or Njörun's Zeal II
If unit attacked
means if the user attacked at any time during combat. They do not need to initiate combat, deal damage, or survive.- This means that if the foe initiates combat and the user cannot counterattack, the effect will not trigger.
- The stat decrease that can be applied by Spy's Shuriken is considered a Penalty.
- Any 【Penalty】 on a unit lasts until that unit takes an action. If the unit takes multiple actions in a turn, they will only have Penalties for their first action.
- If the unit also has Grand Strategy, any Penalties will remain active until the start of that unit's next phase.
