Notes[]
- As a general rule, if a unit is both prevented from making, and guaranteed to make, a follow-up attack, the effects cancel out, and the standard speed check decides instead.
- A foe with skills such as
Null Follow-Up 3 or a status effect such as
Null Follow-Up will disable Spirit Breath's guaranteed follow-up attack effect.
- Attacks that "calculate damage using the lower of foe's Def or Res" include attacks during combat and area-of-effect Specials.
Close Ward,
Mystic Boost 3,
Divine Naga,
Naga,
Splashy Bucket, and
Splashy Bucket+ will disable this effect.
Light and Dark and
Aureola will disable this effect during combat, but not against area-of-effect Specials.
Upgrades[]
Can be upgraded in the Weapon Refinery. For a list of other such weapons, see list of upgradable weapons.
Notes[]
- The stat increase that can be applied by Spirit Breath is considered a combat boost.
- The stat decrease that can be applied by Spirit Breath is considered a combat reduction.
- The damage-reduction is calculated after offensive Specials and skills that deal extra damage, such as
Wo Dao+.
- Percentage-based damage-reduction effects stack multiplicatively, unlike interactions related to the weapon-triangle, such as gem weapons and
Triangle Adept.
- For example, if both
Spurn 3 and
Vital Astra activate, the maximum total damage-reduction is 58% instead of 70%, since the two skills reduce the damage to (1 − 40%) × (1 − 30%) = 42% of the original damage.
- For example, if both

- Percentage-based damage-reduction effects stack multiplicatively, unlike interactions related to the weapon-triangle, such as gem weapons and
Deadeye,
Lethality,
Sublime Heaven, and
Twin Blades will neutralize Spirit Breath's damage-reduction effect.
- When used with offensive Specials,
Bow of Frelia,
Lioness Blade,
Thunderer Tome, and
Lands Sword will neutralize Spirit Breath's damage-reduction effect.
Adroit War Tome and
Þjálfi can reduce the damage-reduction of Spirit Breath by 50%.
