| 1st Act | In an act of rebellion, the Western Church then attacks the monastery. The aggressing force is led by the masked Death Knight, and though their assault ultimately fails, he does manage to capture two students. Tracking them in hopes of rescuing the students, Byleth encounters yet another masked enemy, the Flame Emperor, who appears and prevents any further exchange... |

| 2nd Act | While responding to a shocking crisis in Remire Village where inhabitants were slaughtering each other, Byleth and his students again discover the Death Knight among the chaos. In the aftermath, the Flame Emperor appears, lamenting the unintended loss of life and offering an alliance to Byleth. Upon Byleth's refusal, the Flame Emperor warns Byleth he'll regret doing so and slips away... |

| 3rd Act | Upon receiving a report that Demonic Beasts have appeared, Byleth and Jeralt rush to intervene. Jeralt is moved by his son's courage, but soon falls victim to the blade of an assassin who had been masquerading as a student. A tearful Byleth holds him in his arms as he dies. |

| 4th Act | Byleth chases his father's killer to the Sealed Forest, where entry is ordinarily restricted. After being ensnared in the trap that his enemies set for him, Byleth becomes one with the goddess and is born anew. As a result, he is bid to enter the Holy Tomb to receive enlightenment, but he is followed shortly by the Flame Emperor, troops in tow... |

| Final Act | The Flame Emperor is then revealed to be Edelgard, house leader of the Black Eagles and newly crowned emperor of the Adrestian Empire. Forced to retreat to imperial territory, Edelgard boldly declares war on the Church of Seiros, and Byleth is forced to choose between Edelgard and the remaining students defending the monastery. |
