Panic[1] is a status effect which causes existing and newly applied bonuses to be treated as
penalties. It is important to note that Panic does not remove bonuses, it converts bonuses into penalties. This means that it is possible to have two penalties at once, one from a negative bonus and one from a penalty. Combat boosts and
penalties are not affected by Panic. For sources of this status effect, see the category page Sources of Panic.
For example, if an ally uses Rally Attack on a unit inflicted with Panic, the +4 Atk bonus will become and be treated as a penalty, reducing that unit's Atk by 4.

Skill Interaction[]
Panic does not convert
bonuses into
penalties, it changes the value of existing
bonuses from positive to negative.
- If the affected unit does not have
bonuses or the affected unit has
Null Panic,
Panic has no effect, but can still be used to trigger skills that require a 【Penalty】 such as
Atk/Spd Catch 4 and
Cursed Lance.
Changed interaction with other skills while affected by Panic:
- Sources of bonus neutralization, such as
Neutralize Foe Bonuses,
Beorc's Blessing, or
Divine Naga, will not trigger.
- Effects that grant bonus damage, combat boosts, or inflict combat reductions based off of bonuses such as
Gronnblade+,
Bonus Doubler, and
Victorfish+ will ignore penalties, and will be incapable of acquiring damage bonuses, combat boosts, or inflicting combat reductions.
Retained interaction with other skills while Bonuses are affected by Panic:
- Bonuses which affect the same stat will not stack with each other (eg. Atk Tactic and Hone Atk). Only the bonus with the biggest change will apply, granting a larger Penalty.
- Bonuses affecting different stats (eg. Hone Atk and Hone Spd) will stack.
- Bonuses will stack with penalties & combat boosts. They will both apply at the same time.
- If bonuses and penalties exist in the same stat,
Blizzard will utilize the greater penalty within that stat during the calculation.
- Bonuses are not affected by skills that target penalties, such as
Harsh Command+.
