- Override inflicts out of combat damage.
- Out of combat damage cannot reduce a unit's HP to 0.
- A foe equipped with Invincibility Seals will neutralize all sources of out of combat damage except from Røkkr area-of-effect Specials.
- A foe equipped with Røkkr or a unit with En Garde will neutralize all sources of out of combat damage except Area-of-effect Specials.
- Area-of-effect Special damage is affected by Bonuses, Penalties, Area-of-effect Special damage boosting effects such as Dominance and Change of Fate, effects that "calculate damage using the lower of foe's Def or Res", and effects that disable such effect.
- Exceptions include effects that grant or disable "calculate damage using the lower of foe's Def or Res" only "during combat", such as Inf. Hexblade 3 and Light and Dark II.
- Area-of-effect Special damage is not affected by "during combat" effects such as Fringe Bonus, Sabotage, Cross Spur Atk, or weapon-triangle advantages.
- Def is chosen if the unit does physical damage. Res is chosen if the unit does magical damage.
- Area-of-effect Special damage, can be reduced by Area-of-effect Special damage-reduction effects such as Arcane Renegade and 【Divine Vein (Stone)】.
- Skills such as Bonded Blades, Queensblade, Sentinel Bow, or Breezy Spear can prevent Override from triggering.
- "If unit initiates combat" means if the user starts combat during the player phase. The unit does not need to deal damage, nor be the first to attack.
- However, if the effect is applied after combat, the unit must also survive it to fulfill this condition.
- Both Override and other effects that grant another action to the user can trigger on the same turn.[1]
- The unit's Special cooldown count is unaffected if Override triggers.
- The priority of effects that grant another action to the user is as follows:
- Share Spoils or Share Spoils+
- Effects with priority such as Time and Light
- Non-Special effects without priority such as True Lone Wolf or Override
- Special effects without priority such as Galeforce or Njörun's Zeal II
- Effects that trigger after Canto such as Eagle's Heart or The Cycle's Turn
- The Special "reduces damage by X%" effect is calculated after offensive Specials and damage boosting effects such as Arcane Lúin and Dominance.
- If a skill such as Miracle or Everliving Domain can trigger, the damage-reduction effect will not trigger and the user will still survive with only 1 HP.
- Umbra Burst weapons will always deal a minimum of 1 damage even if the foe is equipped with Invincible Sister, Vengeful God, Invincibility Seals, or damage reduction effects.
- "Reduces damage by X%" effects stack multiplicatively, unlike interactions related to the weapon-triangle, such as Triangle Adept and the weapon-triangle advantage boost.
- Special "reduces damage by X%" effects cannot be neutralized or reduced only during combat by effects such as Share Spoils+ or Halves non-Special damage reduction.
