If unit initiates combat or is within 2 spaces of an ally, grants Atk/Res+5 to unit and reduces the percentage of foe's non-Special "reduces damage by X%" skills by 50% during combat (excluding area-of-effect Specials).

  • The stat increase that can be applied by Refined Joyful Vows is considered a temporary buff.
    • The stat increasing effect of Refined Joyful Vows will activate if the foe receives Status Effect Penalty penalties.
    • The stat increasing effect will not be negated nor reduced if the foe receives Status Effect Bonus bonuses.
    • If the foe is affected by Status Effect Panic Panic (and not affected by Status Effect Null Panic Null Panic), Refined Joyful Vows will utilize the total Status Effect Penalty penalty within each stat during calculation.[1]
    • The stat increasing effect will be negated if the foe has their Status Effect Penalty penalties removed by a source of negative status effect neutralization.
  • As a general rule, if a unit is both prevented from making, and guaranteed to make a follow-up attack, the effects cancel out, and the Spd difference decides instead (including effects that alter this difference).
  • A foe with effects such as Phys. Null Follow Phys. Null Follow or Status Effect Null Follow-Up Null Follow-Up will neutralize the guaranteed follow-up attack granted by Refined Joyful Vows.
  • The effect of Refined Joyful Vows will activate if the foe receives a 【Penalty】.
  • The stat decrease that can be applied by Joyful Vows W Joyful Vows is considered a Status Effect Penalty penalty.
    • Any 【Penalty】 on a unit, including Status Effect Penalty penalties, lasts until that unit takes an action. If the unit takes multiple actions in a turn, they will only have the penalty for their first action.
      • If the unit also has Status Effect Grand Strategy Grand Strategy, any Status Effect Penalty penalties will remain active until the start of that unit's next phase.
  • Joyful Vows does not compare stats.
    • Because no comparison is made, skills like Phantom Spd 3 Phantom Spd 3 have no effect.
  • Unit selection takes place after all Status Effect Bonus bonuses on allies are removed, and before any new bonuses or Status Effect Penalty penalties are applied. All other existing bonuses and penalties count towards their respective stats during unit selection.
  • If multiple units are tied for the highest stat, each of those units will receive the effect.
  • Joyful Vows W Joyful Vows applies the Status Effect Sabotage Sabotage status effect.
  • The damage-reduction reducing effect of Joyful Vows will apply to damage-reducing Specials such as Skilliconspecial Vital Astra.
    • damage-reduction reducing effects stack multiplicatively, unlike interactions related to the weapon-triangle, such as Status Effect Triangle Adept Triangle Adept and the weapon-triangle advantage boost.
    • Each damage-reduction effect is reduced by individually.
      • For example, if a unit has Spd Def Tempo 4 Spd/Def Tempo 4 and the foe has both Spurn 4 Spurn 4 and Status Effect Dodge Dodge active, the maximum total damage-reduction is reduced to 40%, since the two skills reduce the damage to (1 − (50% × 50%)) × (1 − (40% × 50%)) = 60% of the original damage.
