Feature Inherit Skill

Inherit Skill

Inherit Skill is a feature introduced in Version 1.1.0 that allows a Hero to learn skills from another Hero. It can be found under the Ally Growth menu.

Inherit Skill: Details[ | ]

You can use Inherit Skill to learn up to 5 skills at once from a Hero. (3 prior to Version 3.3.0; 4 from Version 3.3.0 to Version 8.1.0)

The Hero being sacrificed does not need to be the same rarity as the Hero inheriting the skills. Nor do they need to have learned the skill they are transferring. However, the Hero being sacrificed can only pass on skills that they could learn at their current rarity.

There is no limit to how many skills a Hero can inherit overall. However, each sacrificed Hero can only provide up to five inheritable skills.

A Hero can inherit learned or unlearned skills from another Hero, but a Hero does not immediately learn a skill just by inheriting it. In order to learn the inherited skill, the Hero will need 1.5x the normal amount of SP required to learn that skill. An exception to this is if a Hero inherits a skill they cannot learn at their current rarity, but at a higher rarity; the SP cost will remain normal.

You will lose the Hero that donated the skills to the other Hero, so use Inherit Skill wisely.

Combat Manuals[ | ]

Main article: Combat Manuals

A Combat Manual can be used instead of sacrificing a Hero. The skills available from a manual are the same as those available from the Hero that the manual was created from. For example, a 3 ★ Bartre Fearless Warrior Face FC Bartre: Fearless Warrior manual will have the same skills available as a 3 ★ Bartre: Fearless Warrior. No more than 5 skills may be inherited from a single manual, and the manual will disappear after one or more skills have been inherited from it.

Manuals can only act as a source for skill inheritance, not as the recipient. As such, manuals cannot inherit skills from Heroes or from other manuals.

Inherit Skill Restrictions[ | ]

Most skills are inheritable, barring a number of exceptions. There are three type of restrictions:

Restriction Description Example
Weapon-Type Restriction Only certain weapon types can learn certain skills. Distant Counter Distant Counter is only inheritable by melee units.
Icon Class Red Sword Silver Sword+ can only be learned by Icon Class Red Sword Sword units.
Swordbreaker 3 Swordbreaker 3 (Red) cannot be learned by Green units (e.g. Icon Class Green Tome Green Tome, Icon Class Green Axe Axe users, etc.)
Movement-Type Restrictions Only certain movement types can learn certain skills. Goad Armor Goad Armor can only be learned by Icon Move Armored Armored units.
Exclusive Skills Some skills are limited to certain units. Special skills like Falchion can never be inherited. Although several units (e.g. Marth Altean Prince Face FC Marth: Altean Prince, Chrom Exalted Prince Face FC Chrom: Exalted Prince, Lucina Future Witness Face FC Lucina: Future Witness, Alm Hero of Prophecy Face FC Alm: Hero of Prophecy) can learn the skill, the skill cannot be inherited even between these units (for example, attempting to inherit Falchion from Lucina to Chrom). The only way to pass an exclusive skill is via Merge Allies.

Additionally, Prerequisite skills must be inherited as well, and count towards the limit of 5. For example, in order your Heroes to inherit and learn Vantage 3 Vantage 3, they need to inherit Vantage 1 Vantage 1 and Vantage 2 Vantage 2 as well. This includes weapons (e.g. Icon Class Blue Lance Slaying Spear+ would require inheriting Icon Class Blue Lance Slaying Spear or Icon Class Blue Lance Heavy Spear+).

Merging Allies with Learned Skills[ | ]

When merging allies, all inherited and base skills and their learned status will be passed on. For example:
Example A

  • Effie Army of One Face FC Effie: Army of One A has Icon Class Blue Lance Brave Lance+ inherited and learned.
  • Effie: Army of One B does not have Brave Lance+.
  • You merge Effie A onto Effie B.
  • Result: The merged Effie has Brave Lance+ learned.

Example B

  • Effie: Army of One A has Fortify Armor Fortify Armor inherited but not learned.
  • Effie: Army of One B does not have Fortify Armor.
  • You Merge Effie A onto Effie B.
  • Result: The merged Effie can learn Fortify Armor.

This allows you to invest skills in a Hero even if they do not have a preferable stat variation because if you find the same unit with a better stat variation, you can safely merge them together and they will keep all their learned and unlearned skills. This was introduced in Version 1.2.0.

Search Function[ | ]

The Search Function was introduced in Version 1.7.0 and it allows you to easily search for Heroes with specific skills. Use the filter to set the skill you want to find, and the Heroes that can learn that will have a check mark on their profile. Heroes who could learn the skill if they were to use Unlock Potential to increase their rarity level are denoted by a gray mark.
