If unit initiates combat means if the user starts combat on their turn. The unit does not need to deal damage, nor be the first to attack.
- However, if the effect is applied after combat, the unit must also survive it to fulfill this condition.
Effects that are disabled by Flow Flight:
- Effects from skills on the user that prevent their follow-up attacks, from skills such as Windsweep 3 and Watersweep 3
- Effects from skills on a foe that prevent their follow-up attacks, from skills such as Steady Impact, Swordbreaker 3, Adult (Cavalry), and status effects such as Foe Cannot Follow-Up.
The damage-reduction is calculated after offensive Specials and skills that deal extra damage, such as Wo Dao+.
- Percentage-based damage-reduction effects stack multiplicatively, unlike interactions related to the weapon-triangle, such as gem weapons and Triangle Adept.
  - For example, if both Spurn 3 and Vital Astra activate, the maximum total damage-reduction is 58% instead of 70%, since the two skills reduce the damage to (1 − 40%) × (1 − 30%) = 42% of the original damage.

Flow Flight's damage-reduction effect is considered a Special effect, so Skills that neutralize or reduce the percentage of non-Special "reduces damage by X%" effects such as Deadeye or Adroit War Tome do not apply to Flow Flight's damage-reduction effect.
Þjálfi will reduce the damage-reduction of Flow Flight by 50%.
