Pierce the Sky, Maltet!

This build consists mostly on Hector's base kit, which is designed perfectly for a mixed phase powerhouse of a unit that can fight units at any range and do so impressively well, especially those that hit his defense, easily one of the highest in the game.

Icon Class Blue Lance Maltet is his special weapon, with the abilities of Icon Class Blue Lance Slaying Lance and Quick Riposte 4 Quick Riposte 4 in one. Much like the original version of Hector, he can automatically double on Enemy Phase, this time when at or above 50% HP, while also being able to activate specials with a cooldown higher than Armads Hector can.

Skilliconspecial Ignis is the special of choice. On Player Phase, it will activate on the second hit, which is guaranteed because of Bold Fighter 3 Bold Fighter 3. On Enemy Phase, if he gets doubled, it will activate on his second counter.

Ostian Counter Ostian Counter is by far the best choice for Hector. Not only does it have the amazing ability to hit back against ranged foes, it has an Atk/Def +4 bonus that further bolsters his ridiculous statline.

Bold Fighter 3 Bold Fighter 3 is the ever-oppressing armor skill that allows Enemy Phase units to have a strong presence on both phases, and it also applies to this Hector. His attack stat is high and his statline is optimized by having very low speed, so he makes full use of the guaranteed double that ignores his lack of speed.

As for the C slot, a skill that helps his team the most should be taken. Armor buffs are always welcome in armor teams, and Tactic buffs in mixed teams, along with many other options.

As for the seal slot, the best seals to take are Close Def 3 Close Def 3 or Distant Def 3 Distant Def 3, since he has guaranteed doubles on both phases from the rest of his kit. Along with Ostian Counter Ostian Counter, Hector sees a +10 defense boost on Enemy Phase with these seals, bringing +0 Hector with def boon to 53 defense, which both makes him extremely durable, but also translates into massive damage on his Ignis activation. With that huge defense stat, he can freely take doubles from almost any physical attacker and charge his deadly special as he sees fit.

The Third Omnibreaker
Click to show/hide build description
This build utilizes specific skill interactions to turn Hector into a powerful enemy phase tank that can never be doubled bar Lancebreaker 3 Lancebreaker 3 or other doubling passives like Bold Fighter 3 Bold Fighter 3.

The Wary Fighter 3 Wary Fighter 3, Quick Riposte 2 Quick Riposte 2 effect from Icon Class Blue Lance Maltet, and the Quick Riposte 3 seal interact in such a way to allow Hector to only get attacked once and then attack back twice. This is because Wary Fighter 3 Wary Fighter 3 cancels follow up attacks from both units. The Quick Riposte 2 Quick Riposte 2 effect from Icon Class Blue Lance Maltet then breaks the symmetry, allowing Hector to follow up attack if he makes the speed threshold. Then, the Quick Riposte 3 seal changes Hector's ability to double from a speed check to a guarantee, while leaving the enemy unable to follow up attack.

Because Hector is guaranteed a follow up attack +Atk -Spd becomes the best boon/bane set to maximize his attack while dumping his speed, which isn't used in this set. Any other boon also works to help Hector stay in range as well.

Icon Class Blue Lance Maltet is the weapon of choice, as it provides Quick Riposte 4 Quick Riposte 4, which is vitally important for the build.

Skilliconassist Swap and Skilliconassist Pivot help Hector's mobility, which is important especially if you don't have access to Armor March 3 Armor March 3

Skilliconspecial Bonfire allows Hector to always fire off a special in combat, and the extremely high defense he has makes the special hit very hard. As another option, Skilliconspecial Moonbow can activate on his first counter, for example to hit and kill Zelgius before he can double with Bold Fighter 3 Bold Fighter 3 and activate Skilliconspecial Black Luna.

Ostian Counter allows Hector to counter any unit, along with bonus stats, and he even comes with it!

Wary Fighter 3 Wary Fighter 3 is what allows Hector to not get doubled by enemies, cancelling their follow up attack.

Hector's C slot is fairly flexible and is dependent on what your team needs. Ward Armor Ward Armor is a good budget option to help make his armored allies sturdier. Armor March 3 Armor March 3 is very strong if he is paired with another armor unit, while Panic Ploy 3 Panic Ploy 3 allows Hector to leverage his large HP pool to debilitate his enemies.

Quick Riposte 3 is the only seal for this build, as it turns the speed check from Icon Class Blue Lance Maltet + Wary Fighter 3 Wary Fighter 3 into a guaranteed follow up attack.

This build relies on the combination of Brave Hector's unique skills and the power of special fighter to produce a unit that will always double counter and always activate aether when attacked on enemy phase, along with impressive defensive stats to ensure he keeps going as long as possible.

Maltet provides special cooldown -1 and Quick Riposte at 50% or greater, both of which are vital to the build. Ostian Counter enables him to counter ranged units, essential for allowing him to deal with many attackers, and also provides him with extra def and atk during enemy phase, which is the vast majority of when he will be engaging. Special Fighter 3 gives Hector special charge +1 on all attacks dealt and received, while also slowing special charge for foes. This makes it possible to activate Aether after a single round of being attacked and countered, and prevents many specials from activating as quickly, reducing the amount of damage he will take. Aether is the focus of the build, enabling Hector to both dish out heavy damage and recover potentially large amunts of health, keeping him above the 50% hp threshold for his skills and giving him the longevity needed to outlast a great number of threats.

A Distant Def 3 seal will help to shore up his somewhat weaker resist to survive more ranged mage threats, along with his default Even Res Wave. Being paired with armored units providing Armor March or Ward Armor can make him easier to maneuver or make him almost impossible to kill. Some of the biggest threats to watch out for are units with guard, preventing Aether from triggering as reliably, units that can prevent counterattacks, such as brave Lyn, refined staves, or firesweep weapon, and some greens with emerald weapons or triangle adept.

Ostian Far Saver

With his infamous weapon refine, Brave Hector can function as a Far Save tank with this as his best build. Brave Hector is one of the best users of A/R Far Save 3 due to his weapon neutralizing armour effectiveness and penalties. Bonfire is more reliable than Aether since you will run into units that can mess up the charge cooldown with Guard. If you are running Bonfire, run the Mystic Boost 3 seal. If you want to run Aether, run Def/Res Bond 3 seal. You can run Brave Hector in a save ball. Derekblue1 (talk) Derekblue1SigHead 05:40, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
