Oh, yes. Each of these rings is very important to me. Here, let me show you. This is the Ring of the Hero-King, and this is the Ring of the Holy Knight... As you can see, I have too many to wear all at once. That’s why I need a box to keep the rest in.		Alear
Alfonse	Beautiful rings, one and all. And of course I recognize the titles of Hero-King and Holy Knight. Those refer to Marth and Sigurd, respectively, if memory serves.
Exactly! I’m not surprised you know all about them too. Emblem Marth and Emblem Sigurd dwell within these rings.		Alear
Alfonse	Emblem Marth, Emblem Sigurd… This is the first time I’ve heard them referred to in such a way. There’s nothing about these Emblem Rings in our libraries. Could I ask you to tell me a little more about them?

Alfonse	So, in your world, you traveled in search of 12 rings while fighting alongside these Emblems. This is all very fascinating.

Alfonse	The Emblems have no physical form, but rather appear as apparitions, of a sort, in response to an incantation. And then you engage with them, which is a kind of unification that allows you to fight together? I would be very curious to see that for myself.
I have to wonder why Askr doesn’t have Emblems like Elyos does. Of course, the Heroes you summon here are similar to the Emblems in lots of ways. But they arrive here in physical form, and they don’t dwell inside rings or engage with anyone. Your enemies can summon Heroes too, right? And turn them against you? That’s another similarity.		Alear
Alfonse	Yes, it is. If our enemies are able to summon Heroes, then the ones they call upon become our enemies.
Alfonse	Emblems and Heroes do have much in common, but the means by which they are summoned is different.
That’s true. Emblems dwell within their rings, and we summon them from there. We can’t just open up gates to other worlds and summon whoever we like. It really is an incredible power that 【Summoner】 has.		Alear

I have, yes. They don’t seem to work at all. And when I wear the rings, I don’t hear their voices like I used to. They’re just...not there.		Alear

I’d be lying if I said it didn’t. How can it not? But I take comfort in the belief that I’ll see them again.		Alear
Alfonse	One look at your face tells me you are not completely confident in your belief. I do hope you’re right. But if you are, I think you should consider keeping some emotional distance next time.

Alfonse	The pain you feel when you part with people is a function of how attached you are to them.

Alfonse	Consider it from my perspective. If I am too attached to you, and you leave, I could lose my will to fight. It’s not a personal slight to you, or any of the Heroes. I need to keep a level head for Askr’s sake.

It’s all right. I owe you an apology as well. I was inexcusably cold. And it was wrong of me to presume I knew how to navigate relationships with Emblems better than you do.		Alfonse
Alear	You said listening to me was like hearing your own voice. I took that to mean you’re no stranger to loss. I figured you said the things you said to try to protect me from it. And I do appreciate that. I don’t exactly think you’re wrong, either. I understand where you’re coming from. Maybe if I took your advice, I’d be less hurt by the losses I’ve suffered. The promises I’ve left unfulfilled.
