- The stat increase that can be applied by Devil Axe is considered a temporary buff.
If unit attacked
means if the user attacked at any time during combat. They do not need to initiate combat, deal damage, or survive.- This means that if the foe initiates combat and the user cannot counterattack, the effect will not trigger.
- Devil Axe inflicts out of combat damage.
- Out of combat damage cannot reduce a unit's HP to 0.
- A foe equipped with Embla's Ward, Múspellflame, Niðavellir Axiom, File:Nine-Realm Pact.png Nine-Realm Pact, or Gold Perfection will neutralize all sources of out of combat damage except Røkkr area-of-effect Specials.
- A foe equipped with Røkkr or a unit affected by En Garde will neutralize all sources of out of combat damage except area-of-effect Specials.
- Devil Axe stacks with out of combat healing from effects such as Essence Drain or Renewal 3.
- For example, if a unit has both Fury and Mystic Boost, Fury 2 + Mystic Boost 1 = -2 HP, Fury 3 + Mystic Boost 3 = 0 HP, and Fury 4 + Mystic Boost 4 = +2 HP.

- The skill refined version of Devil Axe listed first has the same effect as Wrath 3.
- The HP threshold and "if unit's attack can trigger unit's Special" conditions apply to both the cooldown count and the +10 damage.
- Area-of-effect Specials can trigger the "if unit's attack can trigger unit's Special" condition and will gain +10 damage from Devil Axe.
- Devil Axe's cooldown count changing effect will not trigger if the unit is inflicted with False Start, unless False Start is neutralized by a skill such as Dream Deliverer.
- Cooldown count changes from skills that activate at the same time as Devil Axe (at start of turn) are not considered in Devil Axe's conditions.[1] Skills such as Infantry Pulse 4, Buffer 4, and Odd Pulse Tie 3 will have their effects stack.
- The Special damage boosting effect is a flat +10 damage that can be reduced by damage reduction effects such as Gust, Atk/Spd Excel, and Dodge.
- A foe equipped with Embla's Ward, Múspellflame, Niðavellir Axiom, File:Nine-Realm Pact.png Nine-Realm Pact, or Gold Perfection will neutralize all sources of damage during combat except the minimum 1 damage from Umbra Burst weapons.
