Description	At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, deals damage to foe = X% of foe's Atk as combat begins (if unit has weapon-triangle advantage or if unit's Def > foe's Def, X = 30; otherwise, X = 15; activates only when unit can attack in combat; effects that reduce damage "during combat" do not apply; will not reduce foe's HP below 1), grants Atk/Def+5 to unit during combat, and grants bonus to unit's Atk/Def during combat = 15% of unit's Def at start of combat.

The damage dealt as combat begins ignores the foe's Def or Res, and cannot be reduced by damage-reduction effects such as Gust, Atk/Spd Excel, and Dodge.
- The damage dealt as combat begins cannot reduce a unit's HP to 0.
- The damage dealt as combat begins will still trigger if the unit is prevented from counterattacking.
- Units with effects such as Breath of Life 4 or Divine Nectar will recover HP after damage dealt as combat begins.
- A foe equipped with Embla's Ward, Múspellflame, Niðavellir Axiom, or Gold Perfection will neutralize all sources of damage as combat begins except the minimum 1 damage from Umbra Burst weapons.

The stat increase that can be applied by Axe of Devotion is considered a temporary buff.
A stat comparison made "At start of combat" ignores temporary buffs and temporary debuffs.
- Temporary buffs and temporary debuffs from skills such as Death Blow and Rauðrfox+ will not affect the outcome.
- Only stat boosts outside of combat, such as Bonuses and Penalties, will affect the outcome.
